His/her primary purpose will be to run and execute the country new business plan number each year together with the Swiss team, and working with the GM, Head of Business Development and UW teams, to build robust client & broker action plans with target clients & brokers with whom we have analysed a strategic alignment or capability. They will execute those new business plans to a professional standard of Client & Broker Management.Works evenly across claims, post placement & underwriting teams, keeps up-to-date with all LSM Switzerland operational and branch priorities, adopts an internal broker & client approach to colleague engagement and management to build trusted colleague relationships, and above all acts with transparency and respect to drive and sustain strong internal and external relationshipsThe role will be to work with the GM, UW teams and other stakeholders to select and prioritise the clients & brokers most likely to deliver the country annual new business target. They will set the client & broker priorities and focus areas including specific business development initiatives, and deliver value across the business through regular monitoring and feedback, building a circle of feedback internally and externally with the clients & brokers, so that they are constantly on top of the key client & broker relationships. Professional Client & Broker Management is about building certainty and sustainability to long term relationships where expectations can be naturally managed because of the alignment that exists.The role will drive value to UW's through challenge, support and operating within a collaborative environment across all product areas in Switzerland. The candidate will additionally support the LSM Europe Distribution Team (EDT) sharing ideas, challenges and best practices in order to achieve consistency and continuous improvement in our broker management standards across LSM Europe. All of which provides a strong foundation to accelerate profitable sales growth targets, retention and ROE/PTOI returns.Core Responsibilities:Financial Performance:
  • Through proactive management of key strategic client & broker relationships, support the achievement of LSM Switzerland and LOB Products desired retention ratios, premium growth and profitability targets.
  • Work with European Distribution Team, General Manager and UW's to ensure broker remuneration and acquisition ratios are at targeted levels.
  • Manage own expenses within budgeted levels, including marketing and event budget as budget holder.
  • Ensure through the interaction with the EDT, that best practices are shared, including QBR planning templates and action plans, and escalate critical issues early to optimise leverage through our collective senior relationships
  • Be fully accountable for the enhanced accountability of future client & broker plans. Drive transparency in our business plans, set clear strategic initiatives, manage issues and monitor results against agreed Broker Action Plans. Ensure targets are achieved, not merely set.
Country Distribution & Go to Market Strategy:
  • Work with General Manager and evenly across all U/W teams in Switzerland to ensure effective implementation of local Strategic Broker Agreements. And make an extensive analysis of new brokers who have a strategic alignment with LSM, and where appropriate identify any new strategic broker agreements that can accelerate a sustainable and profitable broker relationship.
  • Ensure we organise early, and manage, strategic broker QBR meetings. Gather relevant preparatory materials and present to brokers, accurately correlating qualitative and quantitative data. Establish and drive tactical and strategic initiatives and ensure successful execution either directly or in full support of existing LSM Relationship Owners.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of broker repository systems with a view to using the available analytical reports (and compiling new reports if appropriate) to better identify targeted business opportunities.
  • Develop and monitor broker performance metric reports. Work with European Distribution Team to agree standard templates and advance our MI reporting so that it includes Salesforce towards a 4D data view (Broker and Policyholder Client)
  • Ensure targets &/or pipeline accounts are identified to brokers via available electronic systems (or otherwise manually).
  • Identify best practices in broker management and work with the General Manager to implement always recognising the need to have the UW team and all products taking a consistent, collective effort towards the relationship.
  • Coordinate the broker management process between Europe Regional and country levels, attend broker meetings at each level as required to help resolve problems and overcome obstacles in the effective implementation of our Strategic broker relationships.
  • Identify and profile assigned brokers to position LSM products that align with broker needs.
  • Contribute to the strategic process of identifying and developing new and alternative distribution channels.
  • Maintain (or build) C-suite and high level broker contacts at Top 6 brokers and facilitate u/w and senior management meetings including with, or for, the General Manager.
  • Provide regular product/appetite/results update to broker partners and inform new relevant developments across LSM, LSM Europe and LSM Country.
  • Manage the expectations of brokers ensuring they have trust in LSM and view us as their preferred partner providing innovative and tailor made solutions to policyholders needs.
  • Monitor remuneration levels across all lines with General Manager to ensure consistency.
  • Develop and effectively manage assigned local brokerage relationships in collaboration with underwriting colleagues.
  • Represent LSM at relevant insurance market events.

Skills and Experience
  • Extensive work experience and knowledge in one or more main lines of business
  • Strong understanding of underwriting processes and knowledge of risk factors
  • Strong understanding of key Strategic brokers' working models, strategy and constraints
  • Identifies clear areas of alignment between LSM and Strategic Broker plans, and drives collective efforts to optimize the result
  • Can demonstrate alignment with LSM Broker Experience Principles of transparency, responsiveness and service, leading by example on these principles.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in the European insurance retail market
  • Extensive experience underwriting and/or insurance operations experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Sound understanding and use of targeting, analysis and strategic planning approaches
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with local market, distribution channels, underwriting process and competitors
  • Fluent in English and German
