To this end, the community has established the Securing Minerals for the Energy Transition (SMET) initiative to accelerate policy dialogue, investment mobilisation, innovation and thought leadership across a global ecosystem.Why we are RecruitingSMET is scaling up activities, including around trade and investment flows and policies, responding to a rapidly evolving landscape. The Lead will be responsible for trade and investment research contributing to SMET deliverables. That will involve drafting concise written outputs, working with the Forum’s partners to iterate content, and providing accessible trade and investment data insights to facilitate various dialogues. It will also involve tracking the evolving landscape around minerals partnerships and intergovernmental efforts. In addition, Lead will liaise between the SMET team and the Forum’s government engagement, as well as international organisation teams.Reporting Lines and InteractionsThe Lead will report to the Manager, Material Systems with collaboration across multiple teams at the Forum.Externally, the work will involve interactions with a broad range of stakeholders and companies in the industry value chain, but also with relevant industry bodies and associations as well as public stakeholders.Main responsibilitiesKnowledge and project lead on sustainability, innovation and traceability of minerals value chain from extraction, to processing, manufacturing, use and disposalLead the development and delivery of workstreams related to sustainability, traceability, and innovation for minerals.Drive knowledge generation by producing high-quality insights, reports, and briefing materials to inform decision-making and stakeholder engagement.Design and manage collaborative projects with public and private sector partners, overseeing timelines, deliverables, and impact tracking.Curate and deliver impactful sessions, workshops, and events that advance understanding and action on sustainable resource use, including within global or regional platforms.Monitor trends and emerging issues across materials innovation, supply chain transparency and sustainability, and translate these into actionable opportunities.Qualification and skillsMasters’ degree (or equivalent) in International Economics, Energy, Public Policy7-10 years professional experience in international trade policyKnowledge of minerals value chains and key trendsUnderstanding of sustainability of minerals value chain, traceability and circularity / secondary marketsAbility to work coherently across multiple teamsFluent in English, with excellent, succinct drafting skillsStrong ability to partner, develop and maintain positive professional working relationships, internally and externallyWhy work at the Forum:The Forum believes that progress happens by bringing together people from all walks of life who have the drive and the influence to improve the state of the world by building awareness and cooperation, shaping mindsets and agendas, and driving collective action.
