This role also maintains the currency of product licenses and permits, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations. By optimizing regulatory strategies and managing compliance programs, this role supports Takeda's mission to bring better health to people and a brighter future to the world.How you will contribute:
  • Shape, influence, and drive public policy and advocacy strategies globally to advance patient access and PDT BU priorities across the value chain.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with policymakers, patient organizations, and industry stakeholders to enhance Takeda’s reputation and leadership in the plasma space.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team across public affairs and patient advocacy to foster alignment, deliver impactful advocacy initiatives, and build organizational capabilities.
  • Monitor regulatory trends and emerging policy issues to proactively manage risks and capitalize on opportunities supporting Takeda’s and PDT’s patient-first mission.
Accountabilities:
  • Shape the Public Policy Environment
  • Monitor and identify opportunities to influence public policy and regulatory frameworks in priority areas central to advancing PDT BU’s strategy.
  • Develop and advocate company positions on key legislative, policy, and regulatory issues that accelerate the availability of plasma-derived therapies globally.
  • Guide Advocacy Strategies Across Regions
  • Serve as a trusted policy advisor to PDT LT and other Takeda partner BU, funtional and LOC leaders, including subject matter experts, on developing and implementing policy & advocacy strategies to drive change and improve patient access to PDTs in key markets
  • Strengthen Global and Regional Stakeholder Relations
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key global stakeholders, including policymakers, patient organizations, trade associations, think tanks, and other interest groups.
  • Represent Takeda on industry platforms such as PPTA working groups and identify additional opportunities to advance PDT BU priorities.
  • Oversee Patient Advocacy Efforts
  • Foster strong alliances with global and regional patient advocacy organizations, ensuring their voices are central to shaping the public debate on plasma and plasma-derived therapies.
  • Enable effective engagement with the patient community for incorporating patients’ perspectives on unmet needs, research and development and evidence generation.
  • Build impactful partnerships that support plasma policy goals, patient access and raise Takeda’s reputation as a patient-first company.
  • Establish Leadership Presence
  • Position PDT BU leaders as thought leaders on public and industry platforms to drive organizational priorities forward.
  • Deputize for the Head of Global Corporate Affairs as required, demonstrating operational and policy leadership.
  • Build Capabilities & Develop Talent
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team across public affairs and patient advocacy, mentoring and coaching
  • Establish training programs to build capacity and align advocacy practices across key regions and countries.
  • Policy Monitoring & Risk Assessment
  • Keep track of emerging political, regulatory, and public trends in key geographies; develop strategies to manage associated risks and leverage opportunities.
  • Assess and communicate the business and reputational implications of shifts in the policy environment.
  • Functional Alignment & Impact
  • Collaborate closely with Heads of PDT Communications and BioLife Communications to align PDT’s external engagement, apply multi-stakeholder approaches and imcrease impact.
Skills and qualifications:
  • Expertise in policy, public affairs, or government relations, with demonstrated ability to assess and articulate the business and reputational impact of policy challenges and opportunities.
  • Over 15 years of advocacy experience, particularly in healthcare, rare diseases, or the plasma-derived therapies ecosystem.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing integrated public affairs and advocacy strategies that drive change, protect reputation, and deliver business impact.
  • Ability to represent Takeda’s values and positions with diverse audiences, including government representatives, patient organizations, trade associations, and industry stakeholders.
  • Skilled in building and managing complex stakeholder relationships in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Displays core leadership behaviors: strategic agility, navigating change, fostering innovation, and building collaborative cultures.
  • Operates autonomously to lead advocacy initiatives, including managing external consultancies or vendors.
  • Highly strategic in assessing complex policy environments to design effective solutions aligned with business priorities.
  • Builds and nurtures strong partnerships with policymakers, patient advocacy groups, trade associations, and healthcare professionals to advance Takeda’s mission.
  • Collaborates effectively across internal cross-functional teams to align regional and global public affairs efforts.
  • Proactively develops disruptive and innovative partnership models that align with long-term policy and business objectives.
  • Demonstrates credibility when addressing sensitive topics related to healthcare policies, treatments, and disorders.
  • Balances multiple projects and stakeholders while navigating complex regulatory, cultural, and political dynamics across global markets.
  • Capably manages changing schedules and priorities in highly dynamic environments.
  • Advanced degree required (e.g., MBA, JD, MSc in Political Science, Public Policy, or related fields).
  • Proficiency in English is essential; additional language skills strongly preferred.
