Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures and algorithms.
  • 2 years of experience with Google Privacy policies (e.g., Google Incident Management, Google Privacy Policy, Privacy Working Groups).
  • 2 years of Google Geospatial technologies (e.g., Google IpGeo technology, Google Maps for Mobile, Waze).
  • 2 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

"Where am I?", "Where am I going?", "Where..."Primary Privacy Engineers use deep technical knowledge and historical knowledge of Geo and Google's Privacy landscapes to offer Google specific solutions to Google specific problems (regulatory landscape that only applies to Google, historical precedent that only applies to Google, Google Privacy Incidents, etc.).The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more.   • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
