MissionThe EU project aims to leverage know-how and engineering innovations from industry and academia to develop a novel digital twin model for heritage structures that supports multi-scale and multi-modal data. The simulation of the structural analysis of the physical structure is at the core of the digital twin model, enabling the assessment of the current state and the prediction of the response to various external threats. As one of the 13 consortium members, the group at EPFL will contribute to the development of structural analysis models for the investigated pilot cases, taking into account the masonry typologies at the microstructural level. To support this effort, we are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in civil engineering and/or computer science.Main duties and responsibilities
Data acquisition related with images of stone masonry typologies from the several pilot cases of ARGUS.
Development of irregular stone masonry microstructures for numerical analysis based on on-site information.
Participation in all ARGUS consortium meetings
Participation in education, and PhD and master student supervision
Profile
PhD (or nearing completion of) in Civil Engineering or Computer Science
Strong experience in programming and use of AI algorithms
Research experience in computational analysis of masonry structures is a plus
Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data analysis
