Job PurposeThis position reports to the Project Management Organization at Straumann Group and is responsible for leading complex and cross-functional projects or programs from early idea to successful global market introduction. The Senior Project Manager takes global ownership for driving the execution of projects in the medical device field, encompassing new products and process innovation. The role operates in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary, and international matrix environment, requiring strong leadership, collaboration, and communication across internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager thrives in ambiguity, drives decision-making processes, and ensures delivery excellence through disciplined execution, customer-centricity, and strategic alignment.Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Lead, coordinate, and coach interdisciplinary project teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance across multiple functional areas.
  • Drive complex projects / program within Straumann Group from idea generation to market launch, ensuring full alignment with customer needs, company strategy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Define, implement, and maintain project / program scope, including timeline, budget, resource planning, and risk assessment in close collaboration with the cross-functional project/ program teams.
  • Proactively monitor project / program performance across timeline, quality, cost, and resource dimensions, and initiate countermeasures to address performance gaps swiftly.
  • Own stakeholder management in a broad, international context — promoting transparency, influencing decision-making, and facilitating effective communication across levels.
  • Ensure project documentation, quality, and compliance standards are upheld, and enforce adherence to internal processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive product and process innovation by translating market and customer needs into technically and commercially viable solutions, while evaluating emerging technologies and supporting Proof of Concept initiatives for new product features and manufacturing approaches.
  • Actively contribute to business process improvements such as Product Development Process (PDP) and Launch Process (LP).
What do you bring:Educational Background:
  • Engineering, Bio/Engineering or Life Science degree at University level
  • MBA (or equivalent post graduate diploma) or PhD would be a plus
  • Project Management Education (Waterfall and or Agile)
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical device development / project lead of medical devices
Sustained experience and proven results and success in the following areas:
  • Leading cross-functional teams in the development of new hardware solutions, ensuring seamless integration into software systems, from early concept to market launch, while delivering on scope, timeline, quality, and budget objectives.
  • Applying both Agile and Waterfall methodologies in large-scale product development, adapting framework to project complexity and organizational needs.
  • Driving iterative development cycles, focused on frequent value delivery, measurable outcomes, and rapid feedback integration from markets and end users.
  • Co-developing solutions with customers, integrating real-world insights into design, usability, and product requirements.
  • Solving complex challenges collaboratively, leveraging modern project management principles to foster alignment, remove obstacles, and accelerate decision-making across stakeholders.
Sustained experience, knowledge in the following areas:
  • Applicable standards and regulations (MDD/MDR, FDA, ISO)
  • Design control process and Product Development Process (PDP)
  • Product development, manufacturing and testing
