- Development of new materials and optimization of existing materials
- Ability to learn new areas of materials science and bring newly acquired skills in practise
- Customer-related project work with tight schedules
- Customer communication and ability to present complex topics to generic audience
- Cultivating the internal chemical compliance system for monitoring and replacing of chemical substances (e.g. according to REACH)
- Keeping close contact to material suppliers, and monitoring the market for new materials
- Design of test methods and testing of materials in accordance with the chemical compliance, and customer requirements, creating a pipeline of back-up material solutions
- Lead independently complex material and surface treatment development projects
- Using broad technical know-how and materials expertise contribute other teams in R&D, engineering and advanced technologies in mutual development projects
- Contributing to a culture of innovation by actively generating novel concepts and enhancements for materials and surface treatment, by identifying relevant trends, technical developments and translating these into internal innovation projects
- Cross-functional collaboration at site level and alignment with global teams
- Document work in detailed project reports and pursue lessons learnt from topics alike
- Strive for excellence
- A university degree in natural science or engineering in the fields of chemistry, materials science, polymers or chemical engineering
- Strong background in one or more of following fields: elastomers, nanomaterials, thermoplastics, surface chemistry, or analytical chemistry
- 10+ years of experience in similar industries
- Proficiency in writing detailed technical reports
- Willingness to travel globally to support customers and other teams
- Adaptability, constructive, team-player, open-minded, innovative, committed, communicative and well structured, with the ability to work independently
- Fluent in English (with strong verbal and written communication skills), German is an advantage
