As pioneers and innovators in the cannabis industry, we invite you to join us and experience the world of cannabis at its finest.The Chief Financial Officer at MJ is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity and statutory compliance. This is a hands-on role leading a small finance team of 1–2 people, with a strong focus on Swiss accounting standards, local taxation, and regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all statutory accounting and financial reporting for MJ in accordance with Swiss GAAP (Swiss Code of Obligations) and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Manage Swiss tax compliance, including corporate income tax (Gewinnsteuer), capital tax (Kapitalsteuer), VAT (MWST), and withholding tax obligations, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
  • Lead and develop a small finance team of 1–2 people, providing day-to-day guidance, workload management, and professional development.
  • Manage relationships with Swiss tax authorities, external auditors, notaries, banks, and other statutory bodies.
  • Oversee cash flow management, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end close processes for the Swiss entity.
  • Maintain and enforce robust internal controls and financial procedures in line with group standards.
  • Support Swiss-specific corporate actions including regulatory filings, entity-level transactions, and any restructuring activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with at least 2 years in a mid-management to senior finance role.
  • Full proficiency in English and German (written and spoken).
  • Experience managing or mentoring small finance teams, with a willingness to make significant individual contributions.
  • Familiarity with SME and/or start-up environments is a strong advantage.
  • Professional accounting qualification, such as Swiss Certified Accountant and Tax Expert (Zugelassener Revisor / dipl. Steuerexperte), Swiss Federal Diploma in Accounting and Finance (Eidg. Diplom Buchhalter/Controller), or an internationally recognized equivalent (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is an advantage.
  • Strong command of Odoo software is an advantage.
  • Confirmed right to work and reside in Switzerland.
