About the roleAs an intern in Downstream Process Development (DSP), you will be a key enabler for our aspirations to advance on the field of model-assisted Drug Substance Development (DSD) and contribute to our innovation strategy. You will join the DSD Scientific Office and work in close collaboration with the portfolio project development teams (and many more experts within the Biologics community) acting as key contributor on Downstream Process modelling while generating relevant data in the lab and applying them within model-based solutions.Preferred start date: Q2 2024
Duration: 6 monthsKey Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Contribute to the development of mathematical models to characterize the DSP production system and its dynamic
  • Design, planning, and execution of experiments to support model development activities, model vali-dation, and process optimization/characterization
  • Support ongoing app development by striving to develop and/or extend your programming skills

  • Master or PhD graduate in a relevant field as chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, bioprocess technology, bioinformatics, or similar with a strong background on process modelling (mechanistic, data-driven and/or hybrid models)
  • Knowledge on DSP processes with the interest and ability to work in that field
  • Experience working in a chemical/biological lab environment
  • Demonstrated programming skills (R, Python, or MATLAB) and knowledge of Machine Learning algo-rithms is desired
  • Experience in app development (e.g. Streamlit, Dash, Shiny) and/or mathematical optimization would be beneficial
  • Excellent ability to build collaborative relationships and a can-do mind-set
  • Proficiency in oral and written English with strong communication and presentation skills
