Offer DescriptionThe Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) is seeking a Lab Manager to join the newly established research group led by Dr. Julia Batki, starting March 2026.investigates cell fate regulation during organ development, with a focus on how cell elimination underlies the emergence of functional tissues. The team employs a wide range of cutting-edge methods, including single-cell transcriptomics, imaging-based techniques, and genome engineering, working with both in vivo mouse models and in vitro organoid systems.We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive team member to support daily lab operations and actively participate in molecular biology and animal experiments. Your role will be instrumental in maintaining a collaborative and productive lab environment and helping ensure the success of our research endeavors. - Oversee and manage ordering and budgeting.
- Plan and support experiments involving mice and embryos.
- Perform molecular biology and cell culture work.
- Onboard and train new lab members.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and ethical regulations.
About you - You hold a university degree in Biology or a related field or have a vocational qualification as a lab technician.
- You have several years of professional experience as a lab manager/assistant in a research setting.
- You are skilled in standard molecular biology techniques; experience with mammalian tissue culture and mouse experiments, as well as certification for working with animal models, are highly desirable.
- You are solution-oriented and eager to implement new protocols.
- You are reliable, well-organized and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
- You have excellent spoken and written communication skills in English; German language skills are a plus.
